History, Mission and Vision

The USGBC Mississippi Chapter is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, volunteer organization formed in 2006 to form a relationship with the national organization and have a positive impact on the region's built environment by increasing the awareness of evolving principles of sustainability and green building practices, technologies, policies and standards. The chapter's membership is open to all segments of the building industry including designers, builders, manufacturers, owners, and policy makers.

Find My Branch

The discussions of forming a USGBC Mississippi chapter began as Katrina was bearing down on Mississippi. Patrik Lazzari and Perry Richardson met together and decided that Mississippi needed a stronger voice on sustainability issues and needed to be able to have a dialogue with USGBC National to meet their mission: To improve and to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, Thus enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

We started with 10 leaders across the state and now have grown to become a full chapter in early 2010 after receiving our 501c3 designation. We are proud to represent Mississippi and are striving to achieve our mission. Our chapter is represented by over 40 national member companies across the state with over 350 LEED accredited professionals and almost 150 members that represent the citizens of our state that want to see a better Mississippi for tomorrow. Together we will achieve this mission.
